I’ve Lost Her

I’ve lost someone, and I think it’s ‘she’
For I knew her well and I knew her deep.

She was this little girl, who was torn to shreds
She was my best friend, my innocence spent.

I remember her smile, it was so complete
She made pictures come alive and was simply, sweet.

Her hair was so long, so soft and light
When she left it loose, the night it would incite.

An ogre once saw her, couldn’t bear to be without her
He skinned her alive, without batting an eye.

Little did he realise, her beauty would fade
Little did he realise, she had now decayed.

I lost her to an ogre, to his lust and greed
Her beauty lives inside me
… and sometimes I even bleed.
