Cleverly packaged by social media platforms like Facebook
When they call it… the ‘friend list’!

Like a LOT of dying concepts, ‘friendship’ is turning into an old-fashioned thought.

What is emerging is a ‘trend’ called ‘friendship’…

• A trend that shouts out “what’s in it for me if I call you my friend and add you to my ‘friend-list’?”
  
• A trend that reduces friendship to ‘pokes’, ‘likes’ and ‘lists’ thanks to Facebook.
  
• A trend steering towards financial gain.
  
• A trend of being seen with the who’s-who instead of ‘you’ who is a sensitive human being.
  
• A trend where the ‘friend’ who has a higher designation/ advantageous position will take full advantage of your less fortunate position and will not bat an eyelid before misusing his/her seniority.
  
• A trend where you are expected to give without questioning and expecting nothing in return.
  
• A trend that can decide if you will achieve success by kissing arse or sit in a quiet corner of the world writing a cynical thought… just like this one…

It is all business my ‘friend’! Friendship today… is a business!
Its got very little to do with the old-school concept of emotions.

So hold on to the ‘real’ friends you believe you have.
Hug them. Stand by them. Don’t take them for granted.
If you are, like me, labeled “old school” “out dated” “old” “intense” “serious” “weird” etc. I’d say consider these as compliments.
